Frequently Asked Questions
How Would You Describe Your Style?
Our style is really a hybrid – classic fine art photography with a fresh, modern flair. We love the raw emotion of photojournalism, as well as the design and richness of art photography. We believe in gorgeous natural lighting, incredible backgrounds, and choosing locations carefully. As far as our photojournalistic side – we never pose situations that are already magical on their own. We try not to interrupt a moment. We love to capture people and weddings just as they are – naturally beautiful.
We love your style but would love to have some traditional portraiture. Is this something you do?
Absolutely! We do traditional portraiture at pretty much every wedding. Even the most modern brides still want the heirloom posed family portrait. We do not, however, conduct portrait sessions in a formal, traditional way. Instead, they are very laid-back and fun. We want to show off your personality!
Do you shoot with film or digital?
For weddings, we shoot in digital (though we still love our film too!). Working in digital gives a certain amount of security and also opens up a huge range of creative possibilities. We even like to find unusual and creative ways to make our digital images look more like film.
Do I “get” my digital files?
This is something it has taken us a long time to come around to, but yes, all of our packages include high resolution digital images! We have decided to include the digital files in our wedding collections in the hopes that this will allow you to spend more of your budget on your dream album or artwork for your home. We believe this is so important! We really want to give you more than just digital images that will get lost on your computer or filed away in a drawer. We want to give every newly married couple tangible memories and reminders of their wedding celebration that they can enjoy day-to-day and pass down to their children at some point in the future!
What’s your favorite part of being a wedding photographer?
During the wedding day, Mary Clark loves to capture people, emotions, and moments. (She may even shed a tear or two.) Garrett likes to dig in behind-the-scenes – catching quirky details & angles throughout the day. We really love to work together as a team – yep, we are mushy like that! After the wedding day, we really enjoy the post-processing and creating that happens. It is so much fun to help each couple design an album or decorate their walls with handcrafted photo artwork from their wedding day! This is where Mary Clark’s fine art background really gets to shine. But most of all, we love getting to know our clients! We would love to be your photographers for life – after all, your wedding is just the beginning of your adventure together!
