Creative Business: Katie Gonzalez of linenlaid&felt

I met Katie of linenlaid&felt at an etsy holiday meet-up last year. I had just moved to the Nashville area and was thrilled to find a new friend with a shared passion for creativity. Katie makes the most beautiful handcrafted books you can image – from journals and sketchbooks to custom baby & wedding books. She is truly an artist and expert in her field. She not only makes books to sell in her etsy shop and in several local stores, but she also teaches all sorts of fabulous classes on bookbinding.

I was thrilled when Katie came to me and asked me to collaborate on a styled shoot, highlighting her beautiful work and her handmade process. I have a passion for supporting local small business, and it was truly a joy to work with someone as creative and talented as Katie. I just couldn’t wait to give all of you a glimpse into what makes her work so special!

We had such a fun day romping through the park in East Nashville and posing on the pedestrian bridge (despite the 100 degree weather at 10 in the morning). And the icing on the cake? I got to spend the afternoon in Katie’s studio, capturing her process as one of her lovely books came to life. I can’t wait to share some more images from our “in the studio” session. Check back tomorrow for this special sneak peek into the linenlaid&felt studio!

And in the meantime, be sure and check out Katie’s website & etsy shop (you can find her on facebook too!).

Blessings,
Mary Clark
